Excelsior Manor Guesthouse is an “ostrich feather palace” set amongst the vines of Excelsior Estate in the Robertson wine valley.

The Cape Dutch revival style house was the family home of the De Wet family who have farmed Excelsior for the last five generations. Built in 1914 with money made from ostrich feathers, and recently lovingly restored to its former glory, it oozes old world charm, comfort and grace.

The nine spacious en-suite bedrooms are individually decorated and named after horses that were bred at Excelsior.

The southern face of the house opens onto a wooden deck, surrounding a deep blue swimming pool. This elevated, but secluded deck offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the vineyards, the Langeberg, splendid sunsets and generally the ‘kingdom’ of this fertile valley.

Set in lush, established gardens with a rose labyrinth, manicured lawns and mature trees, the panoramic views of the vineyards and the distant Langeberg Mountains make this a haven of relaxation far from the madding crowd.

Excelsior Estate is a working wine farm and guests are invited to sample the range of Excelsior wines at the wine tasting centre where they will also have the opportunity to blend their ‘own creation’ wine. Vines are tended, and grapes are harvested, ensuring continued employment for our longstanding labour force and support for their families, some of whom have worked at Excelsior for generations. We also believe that hand picking ensures far better control on quality and also less wastage.
